Ukulele Lady

I taught myself to play the ukulele a few years ago. Nothing fancy. I play songs that my family sang when I was growing up because those things need to be passed on, ya know?! A lot of my favorites are songs that my Grandma would sing...I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, My Blue Heaven, and You are my Sunshine. As I learned more chords, I added a few favorite oldies of my own. This one is fun to sing!

That song was the first thing that popped in my head when I made this card!

I caved and bought some Distress Oxide inks... I saw so many posts using them and I was intrigued! They are so smooth and creamy and make inking a background so easy! I love what happened to the background when I flicked water droplets on it.

That sure was a lot of fussy cuttin' but I love how it turned out! I used Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers to color the images and added some Stickles for sparkle. I heat embossed the harvest moon with silver embossing powder because...you know the song...♫ By the Light of the Silvery Moon♫♪! Oh, I am so ready for a beach VACATION!

  2. It's a small world! A friend of mine, we call him Ukelele Dave, makes top-notch ukeleles. In fact, he's hand-built some impressive ukeleles for some very exclusive clientele.

He's not cheap, but if you're interested, I can get you his info and webpage.

  5. Thanks Heidi! I can't do fancy pickin' or anything, but yes, I taught myself basic chords. My song list is easy, but it's stuff everybody knows. It's always fun around the fire pit!

  8. You are so talented, and this is so cute. That's you playing the uke! :-) Pretty. And also I'd love a set of those markers ... just sayin'. I ordered myself some gel pens, for now that'll have to do. LOL!

  9. Not me playing in the video, BUT I can play it on my uke! I broke down and bought the markers, I've wanted them for a long time and ended up getting them on sale. I'll have to watch for your projects using the gel pens!

  10. I bought white, gold, and silver gels pens ~ there's an artist on FB I like too who uses them. They will come next month, beginning of the month, from Japan!
