Hydrangeas Blog Hop!

 photo hydrangeas_hop_badge_rsz_zps8964cf2c.jpg
A few days late, but here's my blog hop project! Luckily my husband is pretty computer savvy. I thought I lost all my hard work!
I love  +Club Scrap's  paper kits, but sadly I am a CS paper hoarder...
8.5x11 sheets and 12x12 collections

Pounds and pounds of paper!

12x12 collections
It may not look like that much, but that is 5 years worth of monthly kits. I just have a hard time cutting that paper! A few years ago I switched my club membership to digital, but I miss the paper so much. Especially when the backgrounds are as awesome as the Hydrangea papers are this month. With the club memberships we get Idea Recipe cards: a Layout card with a diagram and cutting instructions, swatch cards with paper samples, and Collection UM and Borders and  Backgrounds cards with the stamp images. I used the swatch cards to help me digitally recreate the paper kit along with the kit and color details included in the Hydrangea Scrap Rap.

I was pleased with the results! Here's the layout I created with my new "paper" kit...

Last week I participated in "app happy Wednesday". It was a linky party hosted by +Barb Brookbank  for phone app photography. I discovered the Waterlogue app and snapped pictures of all my new spring blooms. The app turns your photo into a watercolor painting. I used Pics Play Pro to add the text before I converted the image to a watercolor. Fun stuff!
And last, but not least I made coconut-lime sugar scrub and used the Hydrangeas font, Realize my Passion, to make the labels for my jarred sugar scrub. It smells sooooo good! Kudos to Our Best Bites for an fabu recipe!

"app" happy wednesday!

"app" happy wednesday, linky party, keeping with the times

+Barb Brookbank is hosting a new photography linky party for photos edited with apps. Click the "app" happy button to jump to the linky party for some fun photo art. I am in love with the Hipstamatic app for my iphone right now. I use it all the time. My pics look so artistic!

I took my photo in my mom's garden on Easter Sunday. Since Easter was so late this year, the azaleas had already bloomed...sniff...This flower was in one of her new hanging baskets by the pool. I took the pic with the Magdalena lens, flash off, Blanko film. I set my camera to change equipment by shaking. It's always a surprise what lens and film are chosen!

Then I used the Waterlogue app to turn it into a watercolor "painting". I used the Bold filter to finish my photo.

Be sure to check out the linky party by clicking on the "app" happy button above!

Happy Tassle Day!

I have been watching craft videos on youtube to spark my crafting slump.  I found some fun watercolor technique vidoes by +Jennifer McGuire. This one got my attention. Simple and I had all the tools…

I used the 2008 Graduation stamp set from Club Scrap to create the background.

I submitted this for the Club Scrap April NBUS Challenge.  This month’s challenge is to use a stamp that looks like a watercolor image or to try a watercolor technique. So easy I might have to make another!

A Cape fit for a Princess!

Another birthday! Millie turned 5 on Sunday. I asked my sister-in-law for gift ideas. She likes dress up, teacher's chalk (skinny sticks!), play doh, books...nothing hit me. Then Kelley texted me this...

She is Elsa from Frozen. BINGO! I found an easy cape pattern idea from +Kylie Harris at http://www.thehowtomom.com/2014/01/frozen-elsa-cape-and-anna-cloak-diy.html?m=1.

Hancock Fabrics had some shimmery sheer turquoise blue fabric that was perfect for an ice princess! I made the wand too, a wooden dowel wrapped in satin ribbon, ribbon dangles and Christmas snowflake ornaments for the wand tip.

I made the chalkboard face-in-the-hole boards too.

These were sooooo cool! I got the idea from +Mandy Beyeler at http://www.sugarbeecrafts.com/2014/04/diy-chalkboard-face-in-hole.html. She used chalkboard foam board, but I couldn't find any in this town! I spray painted black foam board with chalkboard paint and decorated frames with paint pens and "gems". Turned out perfect!

I think they are happy little girls!

This is the most rewarding 34 seconds ever…

Keep Calm and Happy Birthday!

My oldest niece will turn 12 on Monday, sniff….

Ellie riding in Wendy McNatt's car

I made her a card with a gift card holder attached. She wanted a Victoria’s Secret gift card, sigh.

I haven’t used my Cricut in a while and just refurbished my cutting mats, so I was ready for action!  My go to cartridge for birthday girls is Forever Young. I found some of the cutest Forever Young Cricut cards on Pinterest!

Birthday Card for a 13 year old. Used Forever Young Cricut Cartridge

I liked the trifold card idea and found some pre-scored and cut cards made from Club Scrap cardstock that I bought years ago when I was an FFC Crafter.

I liked how the panels on the Pinterest card were decorated, so I measured the panels and cut my cardstock to fit with a 1/8 inch border.

I’m kinda hooked on my Keep Calm clearance stamp I just bought and HAD to use it on this card. I altered it a little bit…

Then I decided to add a gift card pocket on the opposite side of the panel. I cut the birthday present layers on the Forever Young cartridge and made a pocket on the back of it to slide the gift card into.

I flattened the folded edges with my bone folder, put a thin strip of glue on them and glued to my card panel.

Keep Calm and go shopping Ellie Belle!
