Trick or Treat!!!

I made these treats for the Fall Festival at my son’s elementary school.  Yum!  Graveyard cake (had to throw some Cricut in there!  Happy Hauntings font), and Mini Monsters cookies!  I used my Gypsy for the designs, love that thing.  I broke down and bought one and soooo glad I did.  It makes using the Cricut so much easier.  Now, to tackle the Happy Hauntings 3D Haunted House!

I think you are Super Girl!

I broke down and bought a Gypsy.  I have been obsessed with my Cricut and this was the icing on the cake! Love it!  I made this card for my cousin’s 15th birthday.  She is the coolest kid!  Bouncy, happy, and a little goofy….just like me!  I designed this card for her using the Gypsy and used CS cardstock, Expressions, Gratitude, Cyprus, and used Paper Doll Dress Up and Billionaire Cricut cartridges.  I used the Gypsy to weld the font together.  My first try at “ribbon ruffles”, so cute!  Happy 15th Birthday Morgan!

Hooray for School!

I made these cards for my nieces and nephew to celebrate the new school year.  Everyone loves to get mail, especially when you are a kid! I personalized each card so that they would feel special. I used the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge for the school bus, Wild Card for the phrase, and Everyday Paper Dolls for the figures.  So cute!  The school bus and paper dolls are cut at 3”, the phrase is cut at 5”, the road border is cut at 2 1/2.  I used Club Scrap cardstock and POPS.  Stickles for bling!

I LOVE MY CRICUT!

I have been participating in an online challenge hosted by Club Scrap called the PSL or Pro Scrapbookers League™ Camp Yah- Hey-n-So.  This has been such an inspiration to me to complete some cards and to USE MY CRICUT EXPRESSION!  I have watched some fantastic tutorials by My Pink Stamper and Obsessed with Scrapbooking.  These ladies have done a terrific job with their instructional videos!  These are my cards from the last week of PSL Camp….

This card was made with multiple papers from Club Scrap cardstock. Their cardstock is fantastic! Most of the sheets are 80 lb cover weight and cut beautifully with the Cricut.  I used the Just Because Cricut cart and used the Fit to Page (12*12 CS)  feature on the card and applied that measurement to all the die cuts.  I ended up with a pretty large card and used The Enveloper by the Crafter’s Companion to make the envelope, also out of CS card stock.  Easy and the envelope (1/2 US letter paper size)  was perfect! Of course you can make the card smaller with your Cricut.

I used the Sentimentals cart and Club Scrap cardstock for this one.  Club Scrap has small packages of coordinating paper called POPS (Pound of Paper) that you can add to your monthly kit.  The sizes range from 3*5 to 5*7, perfect for backing photos, journaling, and using with the Cricut;)!  I cut the telephone on a 5*7 piece of cardstock and used the FTP feature.  It cut at 4 1/2”. I “tangled” on it with a gold gel pen.  This fit perfectly on a 6*6 card.  I cut the phrase at 2”.  I used one of the Martha Stewart punches for the border.

I love this one! I made it for my sister’s birthday!  I used two cartridges for this one, Forever Young and Storybook.  I had a 5*7 card from one of Club Scrap’s Greetings to Go kits  and had to test my cuts  a few times before I got the size I wanted. Using the Storybook cart I cut the phrase at 4 1/2” and  the frame I used the FTP feature on a 5*7 POP.  I cut the model at 4 1/2” using the Forever Young cart. I embossed the hot pants using my Cuttlebug and rubbed with Club Scrap’s onyx ink pad.  I embellished with gems.  I hadn’t tried the pop dots and bought them on a whim while shopping.  They worked perfect for adhering these gem embellishments!  I’ve tried many different kinds of glue and decided to try Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive after watching Joy on Obsessed with Scrapbooking.  Love this for layering these Cricut die cuts.

Greetings Wise One….

img088 Oh I am loving Zentangles!  The technique is time consuming, but I love the results.  I used the Wild Card Cricut cartridge as a template for the owl, and Martha Stewart’s photo corner embossing punch.  Of course Ten Seconds Studios chocolate brown  metal and Club Scrap’s cardstock from the Henna collection.  I distressed the edges with Club Scrap’s Earth ink.  WHOO, WHOOOOO?!

Fab Cards!

More Ten Seconds Studios metal and Club Scrap cardstock... I used oval Nestabilities to die cut the opening to the Fleur de Lis card and embossed with the Cuttlebug. I stamped the Haberdashery stamp with Staz On ink on the backside of the TSS metal and "puffed" the image. I got this idea from Lin at Paper Artsy. I distressed with black acrylic paint and sanded the image. The angel design is taken from TSS's DVD "A to Z of Metal Works".  Now, I’m off to metalize my world!

Zentangle

tile-mt-008-sm

Zentangle is an easy to learn and relaxing method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. I remember doing this type of "doodling" in art class in junior high!  I saw this technique featured on Ten Seconds Studios blog.  Fun stuff, so I had to try it using TSS metal for my PSL cards at Club Scrap this week!  So…..here’s my card….

Summer in Paris

img010 img011 img012

Love that Cricut! Love that CS cardstock!  Together they make the prettiest cards ever!  I used paper and embellishments from the Sonoma collection and the Summer in Paris Cricut cartridge.  Stickles for bling.  The images had to be cut at 51/2 or larger because they are so intricate.  Turned out that was a perfect size for these Sonoma G2G cards.

My Favorite Artifact…

I loved this Club Scrap kit,  Artifacts, January 2009!  It was perfect for my niece Ellie’s first year swim team pictures.  My dilemma was that I did not want these gorgeous pages in page protectors.  God I hate those!  It reminds me of an old lady I knew when I was a kid.  She covered all of her furniture with plastic, carpet too! If I am making a book for little ones, I will use them, otherwise I like my pages to be 3-D, interactive, and touchable!   I played with some different ideas and came up with this one.  Because Club Scrap paper is so thick and sturdy, I felt comfortable making an accordion fold binding out of it.  I glued my 12*12 pages back to back and glued them to the accordion spine.  I bought a sheet of matte board at Hobby Lobby and had them cut it into  14*14 squares, (I ended up with 4 and two smaller pieces for another project).  The covers ended up costing $5 or so, I couldn’t buy an album for that!  I modge podged some of the Artifacts paper to the covers and used some grungeboard hinges for extra support.  I am so pleased with how this turned out!

abc & me

This was “handmade for you by Wendy-woo”…for my cousin’s children. I love the Graphic 45 paper outside covers, and OF COURSE Club Scrap for the inside pages and ALSB layouts!  I had to throw some Ten Seconds Studios metal in there too…

I used 8x8 canvases and covered them with Graphic 45 paper and Modge Podge (LOVE THAT STUFF). I used 6x6 ALSB layouts for the inside pages.  I was experimenting with the binding. I used ball chain instead of looseleaf rings.  It allowed for a little more freedom.  I hope they enjoy it as much as I did making it!

Who Dat???

Do you love it or what??? I got this really neat post it note holder idea from the internet and decided to try it out. It is an acrylic picture frame! I made the fleur de lis pendant as a pin to wear for Super Bowl Sunday. I had watched Suze make some really neat stuff in her Schmooze with Suze videos and wanted to give it a try. Helps to work in a dental office, I used our dental materials to make a silcone mold of a friends necklace! Add some perfect pearls, stickles, feathers and voila! I saw the coolest Taco Tuesday video titled "Controlled Squish" featuring Lin from Paper Artsy and Cheryl from Ten Seconds Studio. I had to try the Metal+Utee= Fab Embellishment! Check out the link over on the right. That is where the WHO DAT? tiles come from. Had to put that Melt Art to use! The picture doesn't do it justice, but the paper is from Club Scrap. Very shimmery black. The fleur de lis trio stamp is from Club Scrap too. Love their stuff! Anyway, I had fun making this. Now, who to give it to.....................

Healing Hands...

During the Christmas holidays, my 12 year old showed me a "bump" on his forearm. I didn't think much of it, he plays every sport there is and then some (including Jyu Jitsu)! I told him that if it didn't go away we'd go to the doctor to get it checked out. Turns out he had a benign tumor, a hemangioma, and had to have it removed. We had a hard time finding a surgeon who would remove it. Then we went to Dr. McCabe. We had heard great things about him and decided to make an appointment. The first thing that got my attention was that he had the physician's prayer framed and displayed on an old desk in his waiting room. As I looked around the room, he had photos of patients he had treated in Africa. The pictures weren't showy or posed. They were of him WORKING. Turns out his specialty is hands. I have always noticed "hands", they tell you so much about a person. Second plus for me. Then we met him. Cut and dry and didn't beat around the bush. That is what I needed to hear. My husband made an interesting analogy when we were discussing how to make the decision which surgeon do we choose? How do you decide something like that? How do you know he/she is the best? My husband drew on his own experiences in football. Do you want the quarterback who can't make a decision without the coach, or do you want the quarterback who says, "Give me the ball."? I wanted confidence, and Dr. McCabe said to give him the ball. The day of the surgery, there were 4-5 scheduled before ours, and one of them was a double mastectomy. He was a wanted man. Made me feel better, but I didn't want my kid to be the last patient of the day! We waited all day, and then he was in and out in 30 minutes. No problem. Dr. McCabe came in to check on Jake before he left and I asked if he was ready for a nap. He looked kind of funny and said, "Well, after this cup of coffee, I have to go across the street for three more surgeries." He smiled and patted Jake and left. The nurses all told me that that is not an unusual day for him. They love him. Thank God that Jake's tumor was benign, but knowing that he was cared for by someone like that means a lot. I made this for him. I thought it fit...

Metalize Your World!!!

Last October, I took Ten Seconds Studio's Certification Workshop. It was an awesome, intense, CREATIVE, make your eyes red from no sleep kind of workshop! I couldn't wait to go home and start to "metalize" my world. Cheryl handmade our certificates...

Oh! I got to meet Megan and Cheryl! (This is a big deal for those of you who haven't been introduced to their videos, they have a serious cult following!) Cheryl taught the certification course and she is AWESOME! They were getting ready to film their Halloween Taco Tuesday video and we got a "sneak peak" at Hell's Kitchen....

Here's a peek at some of the projects...

This was a wooden art case that we had to "metalize". It was my first time to use Modge Podge. I think I love that stuff!!! The front.....

And the back. I love that paper!

This was originally an M&M tin!

PMC silver jewelry, yes we did that too! I was hot to buy a kiln after that....

This was our shadow box project. We used the mini canvases featured in many of the Taco Tuesday videos...SO COOL! Of course I had to throw some Tim Holtz in there. Aren't those molds awesome?

Of course, we had to cover ALL the surfaces with metal. Love that mold!

Cheryl signed all of our pieces with her "signature". Words to live by.
