I Want S'more Watermelon Teeth!

My dad is a master at carving watermelon rind teeth.  When I was a kid, we'd line up after eating our watermelon slices to have dad carve us a set! We all got something different and would walk around with those in our mouths until they fell apart.

Dad was accepted to dental school in 1974 when I was 5. He is a gifted artist, his cosmetic work is the best I've ever seen. I should know, I've been a hygienist in his office for 22 years! I love his dental school adventure stories, and this one is classic...

"One semester we took a Removable Prosthodontics class (how to make dentures and partials). We had to set the teeth up in wax and add all the details to make them look like natural teeth and gums. The first set up, I got an "A".  The next thing I know, one of my classmates asked me to do the set up for him. He got a good grade, word spread, and I started doing set ups for my classmates at $25 a pop. Some nights I made $100. Then, the instructors started to recognize my work... One of my classmates turned in their denture set up and the instructor said, "You get a C. Tell Chapman he gets an A!"

He'd had a lot of practice carving those watermelon rind teeth!

I'm up on the JFF Rubber Stamps blog today with a couple of summertime themed pop-up cards! I combined two sketches for this challenge, the Mojo Monday #500 and Club Scrap's 6-2017 Idea Deck Challenge, to create my card.

I altered a rubber stamp to feature the JFF campfire rubber stamp and added the words "eat a s'more" with some tiny font stamps from my personal stash.

The inside features a pop-up using the JFF Rubber Stamps camp laundry stamp image.

I love how the pattern in the card stock resists ink!

Since the Idea Deck sketch instructions made two cards, of course I had to use up the supplies!
