Rock of ❤

My best friend and my valentine... he plays both positions on this team. We got married 30 years ago, when we were both babies!

November 24, 1990

We've grown up together. We started out "playing house" and built our family.

My "valentine" has a raunchy sense of humor, doesn't mind offending people, likes to be the center of attention, loves us with every fiber of his being, is and has the most loyal friends in the world, you either love him or hate him, but he's mine. I am as in love with this big kid as the day I married him. I don't ever want him to change. He's my Rock of ❤!

Today's post is part of the Cupcake Inspirations Love/Valentine theme challenge! I love when my inspiration for a project causes a bloom of creativity! Chris was my muse, the challenge was my theme and I knew I wanted to use elements from the new Turquoise kit from Club Scrap - the bright reds and teals are stunning! (All supplies will be listed at the end of this post.)
I'm on a Perfect Pearls kick lately. I've been shopping in my stash of scrap crap...and my craft room is full of it! 😆 Seriously, I love this stuff. It makes me feel so artsy!

Hearts and Flowers

Happy Valentine's Day! There'll be lots of hearts, flowers and chocolates passed around today. My family owns an Italian restaurant and Valentine's night is always crazy busy, especially when the holiday falls on the weekend. My husband and my sons will go in early to prep and I won't see them until the wee hours of tomorrow morning. The last time Chris and I celebrated Valentine's Day as a couple was 16 years ago. It was the first year we were open and he called me around 10PM and asked me to get dressed to come up to the restaurant. He had a table decorated just for us. We sat down to a nice quiet dinner after the rush and he served an entree named for me...the Steak Wendy! It's an 8 oz. filet topped with his own crabmeat au gratin sauce and garnished with three large shrimp sauteed in garlic butter. It was beautiful! It's still one of the most popular items on our menu and I love the love story behind it.

Today's post is part of the Hearts and Flowers Video Hop! In each video we will be sharing projects with hearts and flowers to get you inspired for spring crafting.

Some of the videos in the hop will offer a giveaway, so be sure to check the description boxes for instructions on how to enter for your chance to win. I’m offering a set of pre-cut Vintage Valentine images from Taylormadecards4u.com, cut using my Silhouette Cameo, as the prize for my channel.

Leave me a comment in the comments section below the video on YouTube telling me what kinds of videos you’d like to see in the future…card making, mixed media techniques, projects or art journaling - tell me your favorite!  The hop lasts through Thursday, February 20th. giving you plenty of time to watch and comment on each video. Prize winners will be announced by February 25th on each individual channel and a list of all the winners will posted on the Taylormadecards4u.com/blog.

I’m always on the lookout for a “new to me” card design and I recently discovered the Impossible card. (Check out the new card kit at Club Scrap highlighting an impossible card design!)

It turns out that it’s super simple to create and you can easily adapt the base for any size card you want. I picked out some of the images from the Vintage Valentine set and I’ve sized them to fit on 5x7 inch card bases. Watch the video for details on how to create this design and how easy it is to adapt the size! ( The decorative panel pieces for the cards I created are one 2¼ x 3 ¼, one ¾ x 3 ¼, two 4¼ x 1½ and one 4 x 1¼).

The first card highlights a stencil technique using Perfect Medium and Perfect Pearls mica powder. It's the perfect combination to add a little shine to your project! (All supplies will be listed at the end of this post).

I used another stencil technique to decorate the panels on this cute card with Perfect Medium pens.

Isn't this sentiment perfect for your favorite "galentine"?

I am in love with this card! That secretary image is just adorable and I found a stencil and stamp image in my stash to complement the theme.

I used a limited edition panagram stencil from Club Scrap, applied the new Deco Foil Transfer gel duo and embossed with gold Deco Foil for a fun foiled design!

This card would be perfect for your favorite teacher...mine happens to be my mom!

Pretty in Pink

I've been having flashbacks from the 80's. I'm 50 and I'm hitting puberty again!

https://youtu.be/qSqVVswa420

I saw the original "Top Gun" in 1986 when I spent the summer in Europe. I was visiting a friend in Germany and I saw it for the first time in German. I didn't understand a word, but I didn't care! 😜 1986 was a good year for cult classics. "Pretty in Pink" made it's debut in January of '86. The film's soundtrack was fabulous and OMD's "If You Leave" was an international hit. I loved Molly Ringwald's style in this movie and wanted to dress just like her! Of course these memories influenced my creativity when creating for this week's Pretty in Pink Cupcake Inspirations challenge.

I found a stock photo from the movie to use as my background. I edited it in Photoshop to create a sketchy black and white poster look and found a fun quote to go with it.

I printed everything on white card stock and trimmed. I added some pink and black matting and a little ink on the edges of the card stock for a some 80's vintage distressing. I also added some hot pink glitter glue on the boutonniere and her earring and a bit of black ribbon for interest.

Make something pretty in pink and link up HERE for a chance to win a digital image from Kitty Bee Designs!

I'll look for you in the gallery!

Double Trouble!

I love Disney movies. I don't have little ones anymore or I would have known that the new Disney remake of Dumbo was due to hit theaters over the weekend! I'm gonna need a box of tissues for this one!

https://youtu.be/7NiYVoqBt-8

Lo and behold, when I was making my card for today's Cupcake Inspiration challenge, I sifted through my monthly Club Scrap kit and found an awesome Walt Disney quote that was the perfect fit.

Club Scrap Aviary card stock and cut apart tags. Club Scrap Scandinavia stamp image. Tim Holtz Sizzix wood grain embossing folder. Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink.
Elizabeth Craft Designs stitched circle die was used to cut the window.

I used instructions from Jennifer McGuire's Surprise Window Cards video to create my card.

https://youtu.be/CuvLyJtI2Ks

The theme for the new Cupcake Inspirations challenge is Woodland Creatures and Club Scrap has the perfect stamp images (and they are on SALE!) (See the list at the end of this post for direct links to available supplies)

Club Scrap Scandinavia stamp image. Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink.

I stamped the Scandinavia collage image multiple times using my Tim Holtz stamping platform to create a background panel. I just love the oxidized effect of Distress Oxides inks when they air dry! I left the third inside panel blank for a sentiment later or to have room to write a note or message. I never know what mood will hit me when I want to send a card!

This week's Cupcake Inspiration challenge might get you in double trouble...just kidding, you might just win double the prizes! Our sponsor this week is STAMPlorations and they are offering a $20 gift code to our randomly chosen winner, AND we teamed up with the Double Trouble Challenge for a second way to enter your card featuring Woodland Critters.  Hop over to their blog to check out the guidelines before you whip up your project!

Thanks for stopping by and I'll be sure to look for you in the gallery!

Easter Parade

Spring is in full swing here in Louisiana...pollen and all! I hope it's a sign that our bees will make lots of honey. I love springtime. I'm a March baby and this is MY time of year!

I've got some fun Easter/spring themed cards for you made with the Taylormadecards4u.com Passport to Spring digital kit!

These pop-up shadow box cards are so easy to make and super fun to decorate! They also fold flat for mailing.

I didn't try to reinvent the wheel and make a tutorial, there are too many awesome videos out there for that! I'll share two of my favorites...

https://youtu.be/_qeYeeaostI

https://youtu.be/swv8AquXd1E

I resized the two Passport to Spring background layers in Photoshop Elements to 8.5x11 in. and printed them along with the other elements on 8.5x11 in. smooth white card stock. ( All available supplies used will be listed in the list at the end of this post). I trimmed the card panel pieces to 5.5 x 4.25 inches and used some of my dies to cut the windows on the front panels. (I scored and folded the panels according to instructions in the first video.) I fussy cut and trimmed some of the elements to decorate the panels and got busy designing!

All elements from the Passport to Spring kit. Distress ink in Old Paper was used to ink the edges of the elements and card panel. Pearl gems for interest. Spellbinders scalloped oval die no longer available, but there are other brands with that shape.

Passport to Spring background and elements. Stamped sentiment from a past Club Scrap kit. Elizabeth Craft Designs stitched ovals die. Inked edges with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink. Diamond Stickles for sparkle.

Passport to Spring digital elements and background image. Stamped sentiment from the Club Scrap Scandinavia kit. Spellbinders scalloped ovals die and shadow box circle is the negative of the previous card. Pastel green pearl gems for interest. Diamond Stickles for sparkle.

Oh, the things you can do with digital kits! Check out what the rest of the TMC4U Design Team has created with the Passport to Spring kit on the brand new "all in one" Taylormadecards4u.com website! (Click the blog archive link in the header)

Thanks so much for stopping by and H💐ppy Spr🌷ng!

On the 12th Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me…

“The magi, as you know, were wise men--wonderfully wise men--who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger. They invented the art of giving Christmas presents."

― O. Henry, The Gift of the Magi

The Magi from the East. What a strange story, but one that has been accepted by Christianity for centuries. Three strangers from a foreign country, possibly astrologers and interpreters of omens, following a star because they all had the same dream. They bring expensive gifts, bow before a child, proclaim him the son of God and thumb their nose at King Herod by not reporting to him where Jesus was. It's fascinating!

The Bible isn't exactly a timetable and the story is vague and shrouded in mystery. People have just filled in all those blanks since Epiphany became a church feast in the second century, making it one of the oldest of Christian celebrations. The Epiphany is considered the day that the Magi finally made it to Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus. Epiphany occurs on January 6, 12 days after Christmas Day, and at the tail end of the legendary 12 days of Christmas. Epiphany is also often referred to as Three Kings’ Day, Twelfth Night, or the Feast of the Epiphany. I'm from Louisiana, so Epiphany officially marks the beginning of the Mardi Gras season! ♫On the 12th Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me♫…KING CAKE!

Today starts the new monthly challenge at JFF Rubber Stamps and this month the challenge is hosted by design team member Jen Armstrong.

Jen chose a blue and silver color theme this month and since I'm still in holiday mode I'm celebrating the 12 days of Christmas with the Three Wise Men on Camels!

JFF Stamps Water Globe with wood base and Three Wise Men stamp images. Club Scrap card stock. (Supplies used will be listed at the end of this post)

This is such a great silhouette stamp and it fit perfectly inside the Water globe Wood base stamp image! I made it into a shaker card with silver and blue tinsel glitter and added some moon and stars sequin shapes. The water themed dark gray background paper had a silver bubbles and ripples pattern, just right for my design!
