Carpe Vinum!

I don't know wine, but I do know what tastes good. My family owns an Italian restaurant and I have been introduced to the "good stuff". I've sampled numerous varieties over the last fifteen years and I've narrowed down my favorite grapes to pinot noir and pinot grigio. My oldest son is the wine aficionado in our family. If he recommends it or pairs it with food you can guarantee your taste buds will be happy. However, I drink wine so that I can do something crafty with the corks!

Today’s project is part of the monthly YouTube hop for the TMC4u Inspiration team and we have teamed up with the Crafter's Castle Design Team. TMC4u is the new sponsor for the monthly challenges on the Crafters Castle Challenge blog and each team will create projects showcasing a vintage digital kit from TMC4u. The featured kit will be the prize for the winner of the challenge and this month’s kit is the Passport to Italy!

I found a cut file by Jamie Lane Designs for this 3D wine bottle gift box in the Silhouette Design Store and thought it paired well with the Italian theme of the kit. (A full list of available supplies is listed at the end of this post.) If you download as an SVG file, you can cut the images with other die cutting machines like the Cricut and Brother ScanNcut. The designer has also included a link to her blog where she posted detailed photos and step-by-step written instructions on how to put the pieces together. It’s super easy to assemble!

Jamie Lane Designs Wine Bottle Gift Box

I "print and cut" the the panels of the box using digital backgrounds and elements from the Passport to Italy kit that I resized using Photoshop Elements.

I love how easy it is to be creative using digital designs!

Thanks for stopping by and carpe vinum!

An English Garden Par-tea!

Hi there it’s Wendy!  Today’s post is part of the Taylormadecards4u inspiration team monthly video hop featuring the new digital kit An English Garden!

TMC4u is also the sponsor for the Crafter's Castle Challenge blog and the winner for this month’s challenge will win the featured kit, so be sure to link up to the challenge for your chance to win.

The first thing I thought of when I saw images in the kit was a garden tea party. I enjoy making projects that I will actually use and I was inspired when I saw the tea dispenser project from my crafty friend Karen on the Club Scrap blog. I just had to make one for myself! Click here for a set of printable instructions.

New to 2020, the Taylormadecards4u Inspiration Team will be a video team. I started filming and editing videos when my youngest son was in high school in 2015. I was a sports photographer for the local paper and branched out to creating videos during Jake's senior year. Click HERE for my tribute to all the people who helped make the magic happen! A lot goes into creating a video. It is many hours of planning, filming, reviewing footage, editing, splicing, adding digital artwork, photographing stills, compiling footage, final editing, uploading footage, adding links...the list goes on and on. It isn't easy. However, I love a good challenge and truly love what I do. If you like what you see, subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don't miss future videos!

I incorporated some new techniques into my project and the Ghost ink 2.0 stamped on Rinea foil is one of my new favorites. The ink removes the color from the Rinea foiled paper to create a reverse stamping effect. This technique is like magic! (All available supplies used in this project will be listed at the end of this post.)

I had some scraps leftover and made a few mini cards to showcase some of the other digital images in the kit. I printed an extra quad print from the kit and trimmed it to create two of the card bases. I trimmed the other pieces to use as panel accents. I printed the images on light blue colored card stock and was so pleased with the effect!

Stickles is my "go-to" for a little extra sparkle and I added some to accent the butterflies.

This little set of cards was quick and easy to create! I encourage you to check out what the rest of the Inspiration Team has created and join us on the Crafter's Castle Challenge blog for a chance to win this gorgeous digital kit!

One Sheet Purse!

Succulents are all the rage right now. I have them all over my house and in the window of my operatory at work. They are fascinating plants and so easy to grow...especially for someone like me who forgets to water them! 😂

Today's post is part of the Cupcake Inspirations theme challenge...deserts! I made a fun project using papers and stamps from Club Scrap's Succulents collection! (Links to all available supplies will be listed at the end of this post.)

I used this step by step tutorial from Club Scrap's blog and made a video tutorial of the process. Visit my Youtube channel for more crafty videos!

I'm all about making things easy and using Club Scrap's card and page formulas have become a part of my crafting routine. The cutting and assembly instructions along with the sketch not only makes paper crafting a piece of cake, but you have very little wasted paper and more time to enjoy the process. It makes card making and scrapbooking what it should be...fun.

Here's a closer look at my "one sheet purse" and cards!

On the 12th Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me…

“The magi, as you know, were wise men--wonderfully wise men--who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger. They invented the art of giving Christmas presents."

― O. Henry, The Gift of the Magi

The Magi from the East. What a strange story, but one that has been accepted by Christianity for centuries. Three strangers from a foreign country, possibly astrologers and interpreters of omens, following a star because they all had the same dream. They bring expensive gifts, bow before a child, proclaim him the son of God and thumb their nose at King Herod by not reporting to him where Jesus was. It's fascinating!

The Bible isn't exactly a timetable and the story is vague and shrouded in mystery. People have just filled in all those blanks since Epiphany became a church feast in the second century, making it one of the oldest of Christian celebrations. The Epiphany is considered the day that the Magi finally made it to Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus. Epiphany occurs on January 6, 12 days after Christmas Day, and at the tail end of the legendary 12 days of Christmas. Epiphany is also often referred to as Three Kings’ Day, Twelfth Night, or the Feast of the Epiphany. I'm from Louisiana, so Epiphany officially marks the beginning of the Mardi Gras season! ♫On the 12th Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me♫…KING CAKE!

Today starts the new monthly challenge at JFF Rubber Stamps and this month the challenge is hosted by design team member Jen Armstrong.

Jen chose a blue and silver color theme this month and since I'm still in holiday mode I'm celebrating the 12 days of Christmas with the Three Wise Men on Camels!

JFF Stamps Water Globe with wood base and Three Wise Men stamp images. Club Scrap card stock. (Supplies used will be listed at the end of this post)

This is such a great silhouette stamp and it fit perfectly inside the Water globe Wood base stamp image! I made it into a shaker card with silver and blue tinsel glitter and added some moon and stars sequin shapes. The water themed dark gray background paper had a silver bubbles and ripples pattern, just right for my design!

Just the Right Shoes

I am a shoe buying addict. I'm selective about the style, but I'll buy all the colors that are available if the style complements my feet. SHHHH! I have bunions and when I find just the right shoes, I snatch them up! I've learned to choose comfort over style. The turning point for me was a hard lesson on my 40th birthday. My sisters took me to Las Vegas and had quite an agenda planned that required LOTS of walking.

NYNY-LO1

I packed some cute heels to wear out and a brand new pair of Nike's for trekking around...I suppose I should have broken them in first. I ended up with blisters on my heels after the first day, so I bought these while we were out and about.

2016 Reef Krystal Star Sandals

I wore them the first night out. Vanity=Bad mistake. Now I had blisters between my big toes and the bottoms of my feet were numb! In desperation, I bought these.

At least I could walk without limping, though I ended up with plantar fasciitis for a year! Funny what you notice when your feet hurt...nothing but your feet. All I could think about was taking the next step! On our last night out, as we walked the 20 minute walk from our hotel to Caesar's palace, I enviously watched a group of twenty somethings walking in front of us in their ridiculously high heels and spray tanned legs. BUT, the tables were turned at 3:00 AM! That same group of girls were trudging back across the street, barefoot with dirty black feet, with the pretty heels dangling from tired fingers. I was thankful for my blisters that prevented wearing style over comfort! I still appreciate a pretty pair of shoes when I'm shopping though. I'll "ooohh and aaahh" over them, maybe even try them on, but they aren't coming home with me. I'll stick with my favorite pair of Birkenstocks and a pedicure and I'm good to go!

This sweet little creation is just the right shoe. It's pretty and won't cause blisters!

I found this template from Everyday Parties  on Pinterest. I just printed it on copy paper and traced it onto card stock using a sheet of carbon tracing paper. I trimmed out the pieces, scored on the dotted lines, folded and glued it together. The hardest part was choosing card stock!

I dressed it up a bit with a glamorous "shoe clip". This dragonfly stamp image is part of the stamptangle line from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps. The detail is just gorgeous!
