Pretty in Pink

I've been having flashbacks from the 80's. I'm 50 and I'm hitting puberty again!

https://youtu.be/qSqVVswa420

I saw the original "Top Gun" in 1986 when I spent the summer in Europe. I was visiting a friend in Germany and I saw it for the first time in German. I didn't understand a word, but I didn't care! 😜 1986 was a good year for cult classics. "Pretty in Pink" made it's debut in January of '86. The film's soundtrack was fabulous and OMD's "If You Leave" was an international hit. I loved Molly Ringwald's style in this movie and wanted to dress just like her! Of course these memories influenced my creativity when creating for this week's Pretty in Pink Cupcake Inspirations challenge.

I found a stock photo from the movie to use as my background. I edited it in Photoshop to create a sketchy black and white poster look and found a fun quote to go with it.

I printed everything on white card stock and trimmed. I added some pink and black matting and a little ink on the edges of the card stock for a some 80's vintage distressing. I also added some hot pink glitter glue on the boutonniere and her earring and a bit of black ribbon for interest.

Button Up!

The new Cupcake Inspirations challenge is up and we want you to add a button to your project!

Kitty Bee Designs is our sponsor this week and they are generously offering a digital image to our randomly chosen winner.

I found this cute digital turtle image in the Kitty Bee Etsy shop and paired it with a snarky surfing themed sentiment!

And That's a Wrap!

Christmas will be here in a few weeks and New Year's Eve is right around the corner. Where did 2018 go?! Today starts the last Cupcake Inspirations challenge for 2018 and it will last 3 weeks. That's plenty of time to whip something up during the busy season!

This tri-weekly challenge is a color theme sponsored by Kitty Bee Designs and they will be providing a digital image to our randomly chosen winner.

I'm using the Kitty Bee Designs Coffee or Tea Please Panda digital image on my card today. You know the saying, " It's always the quiet ones?" Well, this little guy looks like he's the "quiet type". The quiet ones will surprise you with their hidden talents or strengths that often go unnoticed because they slip under people's radar!

Club Scrap card stock inked with Black Staz On ink for a frame effect.

Who knew this polite bespectacled little panda was a hip hop dancer/barista?! I snagged the quote from the Mrs. Doubtfire movie! I designed the speech bubble in Photoshop Elements and typed the quote using the Love Ya Like a Sister font.

Image colored with green tones of Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers and shaded with Copic Sketch markers. Glossy Accents was added to the glasses for dimension and Xmas Red Stickles for a little shine to the coffee cup design.

Club Scrap Chat hosts a monthly sketch challenge and I used the December 2018 sketch to design the background for my card. I just flipped the sketch vertically. This sketch is perfect for bold patterns and colors!

Just BEE!

What does it mean to just be?

Be still. Watch the birds, watch your kids play, or lie in the grass and watch the clouds roll by. The only way you can hear what's in your heart is if you are silent and still. Be present. Really listen when someone talks to you, savor your food, and put down the electronics and be in the moment. Be mindful. Meditate, pray, do yoga, take a walk, and enjoy just being alive! Be authentic. My kids call this being "real", not fake. People know when you are being yourself and when you aren't. Always be YOU.  Be content. The only person who can make you happy is you. Do MORE of what makes you happy! Be free. You come into this world empty handed and you leave it the same way. The most important things in life aren't things!

Today's post is part of the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge and we have a color theme for you!CIC 450

Kitty Bee Designs is our sponsor for this challenge and is generously providing our randomly chosen winner with a digital image. My card features the Flower Bumblebee digital stamp. I designed my card in Photoshop Elements and duplicated the daisies to create a pleasing little scene!

I printed on tan colored pencil paper, colored the images with Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol and a paper stump.

Just Bee Watermark

I added some splatters of black watercolor and finished things off with Wink of Stella on the wings and yellow Stickles on the daisies. It's amazing how just applying a little color will make an image come to life!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Sweeties have created and link up your creation using our color theme for a chance to win!

Do more of what makes you happy and JUST BE!
