Easter Parade

Spring is in full swing here in Louisiana...pollen and all! I hope it's a sign that our bees will make lots of honey. I love springtime. I'm a March baby and this is MY time of year!

I've got some fun Easter/spring themed cards for you made with the Taylormadecards4u.com Passport to Spring digital kit!

These pop-up shadow box cards are so easy to make and super fun to decorate! They also fold flat for mailing.

I didn't try to reinvent the wheel and make a tutorial, there are too many awesome videos out there for that! I'll share two of my favorites...

I resized the two Passport to Spring background layers in Photoshop Elements to 8.5x11 in. and printed them along with the other elements on 8.5x11 in. smooth white card stock. ( All available supplies used will be listed in the list at the end of this post). I trimmed the card panel pieces to 5.5 x 4.25 inches and used some of my dies to cut the windows on the front panels. (I scored and folded the panels according to instructions in the first video.) I fussy cut and trimmed some of the elements to decorate the panels and got busy designing!

All elements from the Passport to Spring kit. Distress ink in Old Paper was used to ink the edges of the elements and card panel. Pearl gems for interest. Spellbinders scalloped oval die no longer available, but there are other brands with that shape.

Passport to Spring background and elements. Stamped sentiment from a past Club Scrap kit. Elizabeth Craft Designs stitched ovals die. Inked edges with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink. Diamond Stickles for sparkle.

Passport to Spring digital elements and background image. Stamped sentiment from the Club Scrap Scandinavia kit. Spellbinders scalloped ovals die and shadow box circle is the negative of the previous card. Pastel green pearl gems for interest. Diamond Stickles for sparkle.

Oh, the things you can do with digital kits! Check out what the rest of the TMC4U Design Team has created with the Passport to Spring kit on the brand new "all in one" Taylormadecards4u.com website! (Click the blog archive link in the header)

Thanks so much for stopping by and H💐ppy Spr🌷ng!

Mermaid Kisses

Today starts a new challenge at Cupcake Inspirations and the color theme is orange, teal and white.

CIC 421

This week's sponsor is Inspired by Stamping and they are generously offering a $15 gift certificate to our randomly chosen winner! Thank you so much Joanna!

Orange is not my favorite color so I really had to ponder ideas for this theme. I kept going back to an art journal layout. I usually design my LO's in Photoshop Elements prior to creating on paper, but this time I liked the digital version so much I opted to skip the paper replication!

I wanted a mermaid on my LO, so I started out with a black and white photo.

Mermaid torso

I added a few elements from Club Scrap's Lagoon kit to turn her into a mermaid.

Mermaid

Hetty Sanders inspired the theme of my LO when she sent me an emoji of a mermaid in a martini glass. My ideas just started flowing and this was the final result!

Mermaid Kisses
(All elements used will be listed in the supplies list at the end of this post.)

Since I was on a creative roll, I made a shadow box card and an ATC using the color theme.

I added a wobble to the shadow box clownfish. I ♥ action wobbles!

Sorry. Mermaids Only.

Look what we found

in the park

in the dark.

We will take him home.

We will call him Clark.

IMG_7452E.jpg

I was fascinated by this page in One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish when I was a little girl. He looks scary, but the children want to take him home!

He will live at our house.

He will grow and grow.

Will our mother like this?

We don't know.

THIS mother would say, "Sorry, mermaids only!" The only thing I would want in a jar is this cute little mermaid!

A few weeks ago I made a shadow box card for my post Frame of Mine. I used that design to create this card, but added a piece of vellum over the cut out mason jar window instead of leaving it open. First, I stamped the mermaid image on pearlescent vellum with Versamark ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder to make it opaque. I repeated the process on teal and black cardstock with some of the Lagoon images and fussy cut them out.  I stamped the mason jar from the Club Scrap®  Adirondacks kit on the front panel and cut out the center with a craft knife. I tacked the stamped vellum piece to the backside of the front panel, with the embossed side facing the inside of the shadow box, and glued the shadow box panels together. I glued a little LED light inside the shadow box to create the shadow behind the stamped image. Lastly, I arranged the cut out images on the front panel to create an underwater scene and added some embellishments.
