Lakes Blog Hop!

Welcome to my stop on the Club Scrap Lakes Blog Hop! I was inspired by two artists this month, +Kay Williamson and +Jennifer McGuire. After I saw Kay's card and Jennifer's video, I had my "Aha!" moment...

Kay's dangling fish embellishment on her card from the Club Scrap Blog post  The Basic Art of Coloring

Jennifer's video from her blog post...

I loved the dangling fish on Kay's card and wanted to have the fish be the floating embellishment on mine. The CS Lite kit doesn't come with stamps, so I had to improvise. CS provides a link for Idea Recipe Cards that are included with the kits, so I downloaded and printed the Borders and Backgrounds image sheet on the white cardstock that came with my kit. I also printed a reverse image so that I would have a front and back of the fish. I fussy cut them out and colored them with watercolor paints and Distress inks.

Sprayed the fish generously with homemade Perfect Pearls opal mist and dried with a heat tool.

Inked the edges with CS Earth ink for definition.

Cut the window with my Spellbinders die cut and Cuttlebug.

The finished card!
The picture doesn't do the card justice, the shine from the Perfect Pearls mists looks iridescent like fish scales!

Sentiment from the CS Gimme a  Ring kit. This stamp is my "go to" for birthday cards!

I am also a CS Digi member and made a layout using the LO Idea Recipe Card. My sister was out of town and we got my niece all to ourselves for the afternoon. Christopher was home for the weekend and Beau loves her "cuzzins"!

LO 1. I used the digital overlay included in the kit and changed the blending mode to overlay for the mint background. I made custom shadows for the pics and photo mattes and labels for the journaling.

LO 2. I changed the effects mode for the background overlay to bevel so that it looks like it was heat embossed.

Your next stop is Karen at the Club Scrap Blog. Thanks for hopping by!
