Let's Flamingle!

This phrase makes me laugh!

JFF July 2018 Flamingle 013E

Don't cha think this would make the perfect girls' night out invite?!

JFF July 2018 Flamingle 004E

I created today's card using the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches Challengefms2bfinal2b346-001

I stamped the JFF Rubber Stamps BCH-Flamingos  image in Club Scrap sandstone ink, colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol. I trimmed the images for placement and adhered with foam tape. The sentiment was created in Photoshop Elements, printed on smooth white card stock and trimmed. I sifted through my drawer of gems and found the matching pearl embellishments. This card panel just makes me happy!

Keep the Wheels Turning!

Yoga with this guy! I gotta keep the wheels turning so this body will run like a well oiled machine. It helps to have a good workout partner. We push each other. He makes me want to be better and healthier!

[caption id="attachment_12323" align="alignnone" width="3600"]Wendy and Chris Yoga Selfie Club Scrap® digital kit elements. Steamworks is currently available.[/caption]

I'm always looking for new things to keep my mind busy too, because I've developed a bad habit of playing on my phone. I'll tool around on it when I'm relaxing and before I know it, it 's been a couple of hours. I really need to delete the Amazon app because it makes buying new crafty supplies waaaaay too easy. I've been eyeing the Gelli Plate for a long time and I bought it after it popped up in an Amazon ad. I am such a sucker! I must have searched for it during my online Christmas spree. WOW, that is kind of scary...big brother is watching! On the plus side, I did open and play with the my new purchase immediately.  The Gelli Plate is going to be my new favorite toy for awhile!

All of the creative monoprinting prompted me to whip up a set of cards!

CS February 2018 Challenge ALSB, Idea Deck, NBUS 003E

The Club Scrap® Idea Deck  and Page Formulas are such great tools when I need a little inspiration! The cutting and assembly instructions are listed on the back of each card. I love that the only thing I have to think about is picking out stamp  images and complementary card stock!

[caption id="attachment_12332" align="aligncenter" width="445"]CS February 2018 Challenge ALSB, Idea Deck, NBUS 022E This month's card for the Club Scrap Chat Idea Deck challenge[/caption]

I substituted the Gelli Plate panel in place of the card stock nesting panel from the Idea Deck directions. I trimmed the cut aparts using detail scissors, inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink and assembled the layers according to the sketch design.

Card #2

I trimmed more of the cut aparts to nest on the mini blue squares and added another Gelli Plate panel for the background. The assembly was easy using a grid ruler to line up the edges!

Card #3

I got a little creative with this card. I made a mini collage cluster with leftover scraps, a stamped sentiment and a little of my own handwriting!

Card #4

CS February 2018 Challenge ALSB, Idea Deck, NBUS 018E

This one is for the Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog: GIRLY! card challenge. I searched through my stash of stamps and found these little ladies to fit on the tiny panels!

I used a scrap of Gelli Plate art instead of card stock and tied the colors together with a bit of matching ribbon.

Whew! That's a wrap! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to let me know you were here!

Take a Hike!

I like to be different, but sometimes I'm different because I just didn't listen or read things all the way through! Story of my life! DRS Designs is our sponsor at Cupcake Inspirations this week and has generously allowed us to use some of their stamp and digital images. Well, I just glanced at the inspiration photo and saw the colors red, white and pink.

CIC 439 Inspiration image

I leisurely scrolled through the images on the DRS Designs website (some cute stuff there by the way!) and found these that I wanted to use...

[gallery ids="12315,12314" columns="1"]

I received my images and THEN I noticed the challenge theme, LOVE. A moment of panic, then pfffftttt...I got this!

[caption id="attachment_12317" align="alignnone" width="3600"]Take a Hike LO Wendy and Sheri DRS Designs Hiker Boot Prints and Take a Hike images. Club Scrap® Love Ink Digital kit backgrounds and elements.[/caption]

I guess I need to take a new profile pic. I've lost about 20 pounds since then! Maybe I'll wait until April 1, my one year mark. I feel a blog post coming on! My best friend Sheri and I decided it was time to whip ourselves into shape. We started out walking, then hiking, biking and yoga. It's always a work in progress, but I LOVE every minute of it. I can't wait til the weather is nice enough to get out there and start hiking and biking again!

I won't bore you with all the technical details of my digital page, but I will say that Linda Sattgast at Digital Scrapper has THE best tutorials (she is Adobe’s endorsed scrapbooking expert) . Her Learn Digital Scrapbooking class taught me everything I needed to know about Photoshop Elements. I'm not a pro, but sometimes I feel like one! *No, I am not affiliated with Digital Scapper, the classes are just seriously good!*

So, I didn't stop there, I made a digital card too!

It's Candy Cane Season!

It took a long time for peppermint to grow on me. My Memaw and Papaw kept a dish of starlight mints on their coffee table during Christmas. My sister and I would see it and think, CANDY! After it melted a few minutes in our mouths, we would spit it out like it was on fire. Too spicy! It's a childhood term. I get the biggest kick out of kids and their simple observations of the world. Peppermint, spearmint, peppers, cinnamon, etc. goes in the category of "spicy". My son, Jake, actually liked peppermint when he was little. He would crunch on a mini candy cane, eyes watering, swallow and then huff in your face and ask how his breath smelled! I would always say, "WOW, it smells just like Christmas!"

These were my favorite peppermint sticks.

2788574

My Grandma Judy would have these in a Santa mug on the living room table for the grand kids. I would dip them in my hot cocoa. They were crumbly and easy to chew. I feel sure that's why I had so many cavities! I bet there is a picture of us somewhere pretending like we are smoking cigars...

What kid can resist these? I remember tearing open the ends and taking a lick of each to find out what flavor they were.

In honor of "candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup"...my first Christmas card of the season!

[caption id="attachment_12242" align="aligncenter" width="3456"]002E JFF Rubber Stamps Candy Canes, Stamptangle Christmas Trees images and The Best Things in Life sentiment stamp. Club Scrap® card stock.[/caption]

I didn't stop there! I found a cute wreath on Pinterest using real candy canes.

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/292171094560488607/

Of course I had to make one out of paper!

007E

I stamped the candy canes image numerous times, colored with Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers and trimmed with detail scissors. To create the heart shapes, I did some mirror image stamping on a piece of smooth rubber and pressed the paper evenly over the top. It worked like a charm!

001E

I glued the tips of the candy canes together and dipped each heart in melted UTEE using my poor neglected Melting Pot. It gave the pieces a glassy hard candy look, but dang that process is messy! I stamped the large stamptangle star with some gold glitter embossing powder, heat set and trimmed with detail scissors and hot glued all the pieces together. Now, I need to get motivated to decorate for Christmas!

Summer in Paris

The summer of 1986...

Wendy and the Eiffel TowerE

I was seventeen, the summer before my senior year in high school. My grandparents took me to Europe to visit my Aunt and Uncle in The Netherlands and my friend Birgit in Germany. I spent two months traveling through six different countries. It was the trip of a lifetime! At the end of the summer, Birgit's mother sent us on a weekend trip to Paris with a German tour group. Two seventeen year olds ALONE in Paris! We stayed in an old hotel with a spiral staircase (no elevator) and the floor was so lopsided it was hard to walk across the room without stumbling! We had a blast! We walked all over the city taking pictures and sightseeing. Check out my "add a bead" necklace. Would you believe I still have it in my jewelry box along with an Eiffel Tower watch I bought from a street vendor?!

CIC 411 012E

What a summer! When I left, my mom had her jaw wired shut after a bicycle accident. When I came home, she was pregnant with my youngest brother! I thought it was AWESOME, however, my 12 year old sister thought it was the end of the world! C'est la vie!

Today starts a new theme challenge at Cupcake Inspirations...watercolor!

CIC411

The sponsor for this week is Inspired by Stamping  and they are generously providing a $15 gift certificate to our randomly chosen winner.

InspiredByStamping

I used their Vintage Digital Printables on my card.

[caption id="attachment_7653" align="aligncenter" width="3456"]CIC 411 002E Inspired by Stamping digital printables, Club Scrap card stock and ink.[/caption]

I created the watercolor background using gelatos and a Club Scrap® stencil from the Bistro kit from waaaaaaaay back! If you look closely you'll see the image of the Eiffel Tower on the left of the panel. I love how the texture of the paper is revealed after I rubbed the edges of the card stock with an ink pad.

CIC 411 004E

I added some crystal Stickles on the Eiffel Tower image and clear Wink of Stella on the roses and butterflies.

Yo Mama, What's Up?!

She answers to many names...Martha, Grandma Judy called her "Mah-tha", she wanted to be called "Marty" when she was a kid (all of HER kids thought this was hilarious), Marth, Mom, Mama, Granny-mom, Granny, sugar/honey/baby...but the classic nickname, and my all time favorite, was "Maniac Martha". My brother and his friends coined this phrase when they were in high school. There are five kids in my family, three girls and two boys. My brother Jed is technically the middle child, though my sister Steph is the one that holds that title. After two teen-aged girls, I don't blame my mom for being a little CrAzY with the high school boys! Mom deserves a medal for putting up with all the high school and college shenanigans we dished out!

I made this card to pay homage my "wild and crazy" mama!

I stamped the JFF Rubber Stamps Stamptangle Sunflower Montage with Versamark ink and embossed with copper foil embossing powder. I fussy cut the pieces, reassembled and made a flower out of the word art I created in Photoshop Elements.

Of course I had to add some Diamond Stickles for a little sparkle to the sentiment AND a wobble!

I love the dimension the wobble mechanism adds!
